A Little Outing in the Lagoon City and Lakeside Area after Quarantine Period
We needed a little adventure for sure
So, after two years and six months of protective covers, masked efforts, and vaccinated dreams, my wife and I tested covid-positive two weeks ago.
Big deal or not! We don’t know yet!
However, things improved after the initial two days, and we didn’t feel severe difficulty. We had a claustrophobic feeling, though!
So, when the quarantine period got over, we decided to have a little outing the last weekend.
But we couldn’t decide which places to explore!
So, based on some travel YouTube videos, we thought of trying our luck for Lagoon City, near Lake Simcoe (the 4th largest lake in Ontario province, Canada).
After an hour and 27 minutes drive, we reached the little Venice of Ontario. Why the name? Most houses are around the lagoon and could be roamed by boat (just like Venice, you know)!
We found out that, apart from a small public beach, all the adjacent lakeside beaches are owned by a resort or the residents. Hence, so much crowd on that little piece of the beach in the summer!
Nevertheless, it felt good to see the lake waves and the people having fun on the beachside! So we stood there for some time, took the lake breeze, and went to explore the Old Indian trail of the town.
We came across the beautiful wooden footbridge over the lagoon, and from there, we could see small boats, kayaks, and powerboats roaming around.
Total 16 km of Lagoon, where 90% of all 830 homes are on the lagoon side (total of approximately 2,000 residents in the city) — it is a beautiful place to roam around!
The little town is charming; however, apart from the trails and public beach, most of the lagoon end is privately owned. So, the best bet to explore is on the boats.
Afterward, we went for another drive towards the countryside and stopped at Michelle Lake to spend some time. It is an artificial lake located in the Great Lakes Basin area of Central Ontario. A small bridge divided the lake into two parts.
We saw a couple of cottages and homes nearby the lake. We also saw some people fishing on both sides of the bridge. It seemed like they knew what they were doing (or, should I say, fishing)!
It was about to be the sunset moment of the day! So, we spent a few more moments grasping the lakeside view and started our return journey!
Quite a brief trip, but no complaints!
A much-needed outing we craved for after the caged days of covid!
